Position: Church History Web Content Editor/Writer

Purposes: The Church History Department seeks a full-time Web Content Editor/Writer who will be responsible for the research, writing, and editing of a wide range of projects for publication on the Church History Department website (http://history.lds.org/). The Church History Department is seeking to expand its Internet presence through the development of new and unique historical content that will serve Church members and interested outsiders, including researchers and academics.

Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Web Content Manager, the successful applicant will conceptualize, research, write, format, edit, and proofread content for the Church History Department website. This individual will research and write feature articles involving LDS Church history, receive appropriate approvals, proof contents of publication at all stages of production, and help select artwork, photos, and captions.

Qualifications:

Bachelors in history or related discipline required, graduate degree preferred

5+ years experience preferred in the fields of research, writing, and editing

Passion for history, writing, and technology

Excellent writing abilities

Web content production experience preferred

Strong editorial eye and attention to detail

Ability to multitask on several projects simultaneously

Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines

Worthiness Qualification: Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.

Position: Historian/Writer, Church History Department

Purposes: The Church History Department announces an opening for a historian/writer with responsibility for researching, writing, and editing historical articles, primarily for the Church History Department website. These articles will be written for a broad audience of Church members and other interested individuals. Other duties may include providing research support for department projects and collaboratively providing substantive editing for the work of other authors.

Qualifications: A master?s degree in history or a related field, with preference given to applicants with a PhD or doctoral candidate in history, religious studies, or related discipline. Extensive familiarity with Mormon history a plus. Excellent writing skills and the ability to work in an environment that requires personal initiative and collaborative competence. Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, currently temple worthy.
