Greetings JI readers. I enjoy seeing the interesting discussions that you have on the blog. I hope that you will consider expanding some of them and submitting them as articles to the Journal of Mormon History. There is not a back log anymore, and I am eagerly looking for seminar papers or chapters of your dissertations to enlighten the Mormon History Association members and other Journal of Mormon History readers. Guidelines for submitting articles are available on the MHA webpage. If you feel that you have something that is not quite ready for publication, I would enjoy working with you on it. I look forward to hearing from you.

The Journal plays an important role in our historical community, but it is contingent on quality submissions to survive. I encourage everyone to think if they have a manuscript they have been working on–or know someone who has a manuscript they’re working on–that should see the light of day. JMH was recently added to JSTOR, which is a huge step in extending its availability to the broader scholarly world. More, its recent move to the University of Illinois Press is an important step in its maturation, and it also will bring more credibility to its product. (Academic hiring and tenure committees, for instance, should give more weight to publication in JMH now.)
