Aerial View of the Provo Tabernacle Fire

The Provo Daily Herald has a whole page dedicated to continuing coverage of the Provo Tabernacle Fire with updates and lots of photos, including this aerial video of yesterday’s fight against the fire.

The Tabernacle website is a great resource for historical details about the Tabernacle and historic photos of the building and its historic renovations, including a number of photos taken of the interior in 2006. Also see Matt W.’s photos of the Tabernacle interior taken last week.

The losses, obviously, are great. To compound the loss of the building, its original Minerva Teichert painting, and its organ, as has been noticed elsewhere, Lex de Azevedo’s holiday production, Gloria was to be performed in the Tabernacle this weekend. Many instruments and broadcast equipment to be used for the production were lost in the blaze. The Daily Herald posted this partial list of items destroyed:

“A rented $100,000 Fazioli grand piano

A Harp

A Timpani

Personal instruments and choir uniforms

6 HD Broadcast video cameras worth approximately $300,000-$350,000

A Broadcast jib arm, worth up to $60,000

Microphones, projects, monitors, and wiring worth at least $200,000”

The production was moved to American Fork for Friday and Saturday’s performance and to the UVU Events Center for Sunday. Admission is free, but donations are being accepted. See this story for all details. I wish I could go.
