Required Degrees and Certifications:
- PhD in History or closely-related field must be completed by the start date
- AG (Accredited Genealogist) or CG (Certified Genealogist) must be earned prior to CFS
Job Description and Experience: Continuing faculty status (BYU equivalent of “tenure”) track appointment at Brigham Young University to begin August 2025 for a professional track family history faculty member who will contribute to its Family History program, particularly History 205: Introduction to Family History Doctrine and Practice. This position will also have administrative responsibilities to support the program’s curricular offerings. PhD required by employment start date. Candidates must obtain a professional genealogical credential before applying for continuing faculty status. Salary commensurate with experience and rank.
Duties/Expectations: Teaching load will include family history courses. Average teaching load will be 24 credit hours for a 10-month contract. In addition to teaching and mentoring, this position entails administration, curricular support, and committee service. Those responsibilities include mentoring undergraduate teaching assistants who teach Family History workshops.
