Along with its relaunch, Element: A Journal of Mormon Philosophy and Theology seeks submissions for its upcoming 2024 issue. Submissions are welcomed from students and from lay and professional philosophers alike. Papers must engage with subject matter relevant to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in an intellectually rigorous manner, and must do so through the lens of the academic disciplines of philosophy or theology. To be considered for publication in the journal’s 2024 issue, submissions must be received by April 15, 2023, and must adhere to the journal’s submission and style guides. Submissions received after this date may be considered for publication in subsequent issues.

Creation
Eastern Philosophy
Normative Ethics
Applied Ethics
The Problem of Evil
Existentialism

Submission Guidelines for Element: A Journal of Mormon
Philosophy and Theology
Below are the guidelines for submissions to Element: A Journal of Mormon Philosophy and Theology:
1. We accept only original essays/articles and book reviews. No other kind of content will be considered for publication.
2. We accept only papers that are philosophical or theological in nature and which have some bearing on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
3. For a submission to be complete, it must include: a) an essay/article abstract of 200-600 words, b) a title page with the author’s contact information, and c) a copy of the essay or
book review prepared for blind review (no author names or details).
4. All the above (abstract, title page, and paper) must be sent in one email with three separately attached Word documents.
5. Please title all submission emails using the following format: “First Name, Last Name, Element Submission.”
6. In the body of all submission emails please include 1-3 possible external reviewers who may be able to assist us in evaluating your paper (include name, organization, email address).
7. All submissions must be in a Word document, and must be double spaced in 12 point font, using Times New Roman.
8. Please refer to our style guide for references.
9. Submissions that exceed 12,000 words (including references, footnotes, etc.) will not be considered. There is no minimum word count.
